North Bristol Language Centre

About Us

I have been teaching for the past 7 years. I completed a Certificate of English Language Teaching to adults (CELTA) in November 2003 and secured a job teaching English as a foreign language in Tokyo, Japan.

During my time in Japan, I taught students of all ages including primary aged children, adults and students preparing for the TOEIC (An exam which helps assess a students' English proficiency for business or university).

After moving to northern Thailand, I worked in a private school teaching year 3 students English before an opportunity presented itself in Northern Spain.

In Vitoria-Gasteiz I worked as a tutor for an English Language school preparing high school students for English proficiency exams and adult learners who wanted to be able to speak English as naturally as possible. I taught useful phrases, idioms and role played to help them understand how English people use language in everyday life. Grammar and the structure of language were used as foundations which students could build upon.

Upon returning to the UK I completed initial teacher training in Bristol through the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP). I then

worked as a supply teacher across Bristol, North Somerset and Gloucestershire.

I completed my NQT year and continued with supply teaching as I enjoy the variety of working in different settings with different children. I work across the primary phase but have experience working with GCSE and A Level aged students.
